The Permanent Representation of Denmark is looking for a new staff member

Position: Deputy to the Permanent Representative

Type of employment: CDI 35h/week – full time

Starting date:  2. September 2019

Location: Permanent Representation of Denmark to the Council of Europe, Strasbourg

The Permanent Representation of Denmark to the Council of Europe is seeking to recruit a Deputy to the Permanent Representative. The Representation serves the interest of Denmark mainly in the Committee of Ministers and the Rapporteur groups promoting human rights, the rule of law and democracy in Europe.


We are seeking a colleague with a relevant academic background, who wants to be part of a small dynamic team. You will contribute substantially to the daily work and tasks of the Representation, attend meetings of the Committee of Ministers and the Rapporteur groups, act as liaison to the relevant Danish authorities etc. You are however, expected to show the flexibility required for an optimal handling of the entire portfolio of the Representation and thus be ready to contribute to handling tasks outside your own portfolio.

Main tasks and responsibilities as Deputy to the Permanent Representative
 * Prepare and attend meetings
 * Reporting
 * Act as liaison to relevant Danish authorities
 * Networking

Required qualifications
 * Relevant academic degree
 * Work experience and knowledge of multilateral cooperation, preferably with interest in promoting human rights, rule of law and democracy.
 * Experience in working with Danish authorities/ministries.
 * Flair for creating and maintaining networks.
 * Strong analytical skills and excellent writing skills in both Danish and English
 * Responsible, committed and reliable with situational awareness.
 * Ability to work independently and efficiently.
 * Flexible and willing to adapt to the changing needs of the Representation.
 * Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritizing the work as well as work under time pressure.

Employment conditions
 * Local full time contract based on relevant legally binding labour market rules in France.
 * Your standard working hours will be 35hours per week.
 * Your salary will reflect your qualifications, relevant experience and proven work-related results.
